Chest Pain

ObligatoryMust not donate if:
a) Due to heart disease.

b) The cause is not known.
DiscretionaryIf donor has been investigated for chest pain and causes that would otherwise result in deferral have been excluded such as ischaemic heart disease, pulmonary embolism or infection, accept.

Additional InformationIt is important not to take a donation from an individual with ischaemic heart disease as any lowering of blood pressure could result in a heart attack. If the cause of any chest pain has not been investigated it could potentially be due to heart disease and a donation should not be taken.
