UK Cell Salvage Action Group

The UK Cell Salvage Action Group (UKCSAG) was established in 2006 to help support the wider implementation of cell salvage as an alternative to donor blood, and to facilitate a UK approach to its use.

The group is made up of leaders in cell salvage from across the UK and promotes the collaboration and co-ordination of expert skills and knowledge to help sustain the appropriate and effective use of cell salvage.

The UKCSAG makes recommendations it considers to be best practice, and produces resources intended to support the development and provision of cell salvage services in hospitals as part of the broader blood conservation strategy, and the integrated care of patients in line with the principles of Patient Blood Management.

Resources produced by the UKCSAG are accessible via the following webpages. Where documents are available to download in Word format, organisations are free to adapt the document to meet their own local needs.

The UKCSAG is chaired jointly by Dr Falguni Choksey and Dr Manisha Kumar.
